The concept for this was posted under Demon Wars on Sammies site but it never started, so here it is again, Character thread will be posted shortly
There is more than one hell. In fact, once there were hundreds, if not thousands, of hells, each one unique. And each hell was governed by is own arch demon. But such is the nature of demons that they are greedy, jealous and seek to show supremacy over each other in great wars fought across planets and dimensions, across the very planes of existence while the universe was still being formed. Then there came mortals. And the arch demons stopped using their own spawn to fight each other and began to manipulate humans to fight each other. At first just one or two little skirmishes here and there, but as is the nature of combat larger and larger conflicts broke out until it became an all out war between mortals granted special powers by the demon who chose them. These powers were of magic favoured by the few remaining Arch demons, ice magic for Glacidairn, fire for Incephron, pure arcane magic for Veneficus and shape shifting for Abeodus.
The world has fused into one main continent and various scattered islands around that. The demons have built cities into giant fortresses manned by their people and virtually impregnable. To the north is Algor, the main bastion of Glacidairn, drawing on the natural cold of the Arctic Circle to strengthen their magic. To the east, Incephrons desert castle of Estus dominates the skyline while to the west lies Amoveo, the jungle based home of Abeodus. Finally, to the south, is the sanctum of Veneficus – Fianus. Between these great citadels lays miles upon miles of smaller towns that are often contested, won and lost by various factions in the ever changing front lines of the war.
Unlike modern and historic wars, this is rarely huge numbers of soldiers fighting one another, the servants hardly ever move in groups of more than five. Mostly they work alone, on the orders of some official to attack a place or person or one on one combat should they encounter each other. All demons have granted their followers speed, strength and agility beyond that of normal humans, but equal between the factions.
