Merden stopped suddenly and gripped his swords, watching something moving in the fog up ahead

"What is it?" Irasi asked quietly, catching up and looking in the same direction as Merden.

"In my considered expert opinion? Something seriously fucked up. I dont even know what it is, ive never seen anything like it in my life. What i can say is that it has two heads, too many legs to be allowed and its damn big. Other than that its hungry, dangerous and has worryingly big teeth. Any ideas?"

"Sounds like me on a bad day." Irasi replied seriously, summoning identical balls of energy in both her hands just in case.

"I was going to say something like that but i didnt want to insult the poor thing" Merden smiled as he drew his swords "You aim high I'll attack low and we pray it dies easier than a troll?"

"Very well." Irasi thrust her palms forwards and the energy flew from her hands, up into the air above where the beast was lay, and exploded in mid-air, scattering the area in napalm-like violet flames.

Merden had stepped forward then paused "And im supposed to attack in the middle of a faire where im likely to burn to death?" he raised an eye brow quizically

"It won't hurt you." Irasi assured him, pressing a still-burning finger onto his skin. "See?"

Merden shrugged and sprinted in, swords plunging towards the beasts stomach. Light from the fire half blinding him he stumbled and instead pierced through one of the creatures legs

Irasi rolled her eyes and ran in after him, scorching hot flames seering from her fingertips, aimed for the creature's head.

"You know" he span on his heel and slammed both swords into the stomach this time "Next time could you pick something that'll give me better visibility?"
Flailing helplessly in pain the surprised creature reared, giving better sight at it. The torso and heads looked like those of a drow, but from the gutted waist down it was a spider, with one leg half hanging off and its hairy back ablaze

Irasi gasped and withdrew at the sight, then sent one last blast at the creature's head to finish it off and put it out of it's misery.

"Was that... what was that?" Merden poked the body with his sword

"A drider." Irasi replied simply, as she stood over the body to make sure it was dead. "Magickally altered drow, though it looks like whoever cast the spell did it very wrong."

"They exist? I thought they were just some twisted wizards fantasy" Merden shuddered and backed away "We better keep moving"

"That means we're getting closer to the northern drow settlements." Irasi turned around and her eyes fell on Elyria sat on a large boulder behind her. "You know, you could have helped." She snapped.
Elyria yawned. "Yes, yes I could have." She smiled and got to her feet. "Shall we move on then?"

"You gotta love that girl" Merden grinned as he set off north again "Nearly out of the fog and then i can have a nap"

Irasi scowled. "We could be out faster if someone helped." She grunted as she led the way, Elyria dawdling slightly behind.

A few hours later, and Irasi had reached the edge of the fog, she looked out over the lands, and then to the mountains to the north. "Can you two walk any slower?" She called over her shoulder.
