"You brought them up" Merden shrugged

"I should have known better." Irasi sighed. "Anyway, I hope you are both prepared, the north is not like the south, there are few upheld laws and the races are considerably stronger. Though they won't all kill you on sight, a majority of them will."

Irasi looked over her shoulder. "We're a good distance from the edge of the fog now, it's safe to rest if you wish to."

"So what causes the fog?" Merden asked as he dropped down under a tree

"I have no idea." Irasi replied, looking around her. "It's been there since I was born, and many years before that."
"It's a barrier." Elyria spoke up, sitting down on the grass and staring out at it. "It was put there to stop people from traveling between the north and south to help prevent conflict. It's been there before the drow moved north, which was thousands of years ago."

"Its not very good at preventing conflict, we still kill each other"

Elyria continued. "My sister told me it was placed there by a higher form, like a spiritual guardian, to keep everyone safe from each other."
Irasi snorted. "Your sister always was full of nonsense like that." Elyria's eyes flared in response.

"Neither are you, sitting there." Elyria snapped at him. "I thought we were supposed to keep going?"

"Actually i remember saying that we should wait for Jaeran and Aelia but of course we couldnt stop in the fog so we had to wait till we were out"

"Like they'll be any help." She sulked quietly to herself and hugged her knees, turning her head away from them both.
A tiny, barely audible giggle sounded behind Merden and was followed by a small flash of light.

"Did you two hear something?" Merden asked as his hand flew to his swords

The giggle sounded again. "Did you see him? Reaching for his swords, like he could hit us."
A second twinkly-sounding voice replied. "Smelly elves couldn't hit us." The light darted forwards and tugged his hair playfully.
Irasi's eyes darted around looking for a source of the sound and the flashes of light.

Merden stood up straight "There wouldnt be any fair-folk around here would there?"

"Like fairies?" Irasi snorted. "Doubtful Merden." She hissed.
The two sources of light darted forwards and circled Irasi. "I don't like this one." The first voice sounded.
"Agreed." The second replied and sounded a raspberry-noise. "I like the pretty man more. Lets pull his hair some more, see if it comes out."

"He's right." The second voice sounded disappointed and zoomed over to Elyria. "Look sister look! I found another one." She sniffed her carefully. "She smells familiar too. Let's take them with us and play with them."
"I'm not sure." The second replied. "I don't like the way this one smells." The orb of light was still zooming around Irasi, who reached out and snatched at it with lightening speed, and caught the thing in her hand.

"Why? Such a little pest like this, I ought to squash it." Irasi scowled at him.
"Let her go! Let her go!" The second screamed in it's tiny voice.
